Splitting the riches… reshaping the world.

I figure you return to Magnimar with your bags of holding, pockets and cheeks with a fortune worth 760,000gp on the market. By volume, most of it is in liquid assets, then there are appraised stuff and then the lesser volume of magic stuff for you to sell at half price. I’m assuming that none of Karzoug’s stuff will get sold, but so far not much of it has gone. Doesn’t have to, of course…

Split that how you will and if your purchases inform what your character does over the next 5 years, let me know*.

What I recall thus far:
Albedon is going to wander the world as a sage and scholar.
Ron is going to wander the world spreading the Way of the Open Vault.
Dagfinn is going to track down all the Cleng clan and fight against big government and something else I’ve forgotten.
The Dropwads are planning on opening some kind of school that would train inquisitive souls.
Arradin is getting laid. A lot.

If you have ideas, (or more ideas), check out the comments here  left by Matt and JIM. Those are exactly what I’m looking for…
*To give you some perspective on how much money that is** –

Destitute (0 gp/month): The PC is homeless and lives in the wilderness or on the streets. A destitute character must track every purchase, and may need to resort to  Survival  checks or theft to feed himself.
Poor (3 gp/month): The PC lives in common rooms of taverns, with his parents, or in some other communal situation—this is the lifestyle of most untrained laborers and commoners. He need not track purchases of meals or taxes that cost 1 sp or less.
Average (10 gp/month: The PC lives in his own apartment, small house, or similar location—this is the lifestyle of most trained or skilled experts or warriors. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 1 gp or less from his home in 1d10 minutes, and need not track purchases of common meals or taxes that cost 1 gp or less.
Wealthy (100 gp/month): The PC has a sizable home or a nice suite of rooms in a fine inn. He can secure any nonmagical item worth 5 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes, and need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 10 gp.
Extravagant (1,000 gp/month): The PC lives in a mansion, castle, or other extravagant home—he might even own the building in question. This is the lifestyle of most aristocrats. He can secure any non-magical item worth 25 gp or less from his belongings in his home in 1d10 minutes. He need only track purchases of meals or taxes in excess of 100 gp.

Before anyone complains that you aren’t millionaires… Based on the price of the overnight stay at a Common quality Inn in silver pieces, compared to the cost of the overnight stay at a La Quinta, it looks like $10 = 1sp.

**Or, in more gnomish terms: 50,000gp will buy you an airship.

  1. Alright so I finally got off my ass…
Halvard is a bit old for an adventurer and with a wife and kids is ready to settle down at least as much as any cleric of a chaotic war god can. Sandpoint has been good to him the brief time he has lived there and he plans on staying. He has three primary goals.
First is to re-establish his trading career. Halvard ended up being held by Mokmurian because his shipping buddies traded him for safe passage through the high plains of Varissia. Trading is as much in his blood as war. It’s time he starts building up this business again. However his capacity will be more managerial/logistical while his children are now the ones going off a Viking. Practically what does this mean? Longships in Sandpoint and role playing opportunities
Halvard’s second goal is capital improvements to Sandpoint and its surroundings. First on the list is making the Temple of Gorum the best it can be. Second is helping with reconstruction of damaged fortifications. Third is convincing the cities leaders that the 128 (give or take a few) identical skulls he recovered from the runeforge as well as two dragon skulls that he has collected should be embedded into the stone surrounding one of the city gates. Last because of cost but certainly not least an iron golem made in the likeness of Our Lord In Iron.
Halvard’s last goal is to grow the militia that he founded. To be clear this group is not meant to take place of the city watch but to act more as a minute men type group. Sandpoint has proven to be a dangerous place. The people should be able to defend themselves against attackers. It may be in vain but if they die with spear in hand they’ll live to fight by Gorum’s side again where as if the cower waiting for a hero to save them they’ll live forever cold in Hel. How will he do this?
First, arm anyone who wants arms. If you get arms from the Chruch of Gorum you have to learn how to use them. There will be regular practice sessions after the daily reading of the Gorumskagat followed by mead tasting at the temple in Sandpoint. Second, monthly rangings about the city both on land on sea for training. Lastly, a bounty for every fresh goblinoid head brought to the temple.
